It’s finally here: After 12 years without any significant television output, the incomparable Dave Chappelle has returned with two new stand-up specials on Netflix.
Viewers of both sets — The Age of Spin (filmed in L.A. in 2016) and Deep in the Heart of Texas (Austin, 2015) — will notice the comic has a lot of things on his mind… and a lot of people. Chappelle’s extended riffs on Bill Cosby and O.J. Simpson might end up getting the most headlines, but those aren’t the only notable figures mentioned onstage. Here’s a handy guide to all the famous people Chappelle includes in his new specials.
1. Steven Avery of Making a Murderer
Chappelle has clearly been bingeing Netflix during his break from comedy.

2. O.J. Simpson
Tales about the former Buffalo Bills running back are woven throughout Age of Spin.
3. Bill Cosby
A former childhood hero of Chappelle’s, the comedian — whom dozens of women have accused of sexual assault, inspiring Chappelle to call him “the Steph Curry of rape” — becomes a major topic in both specials.
4. Manny Pacquiao
The boxer’s lost sneaker deal (and the reasons for it) become fodder for Chappelle.
5. Martin Luther King Jr.
But what if MLK had a sneaker deal?
6. Key & Peele
As Chappelle has done in recent interviews, he ribs the Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key sketch show for (in his opinion) borrowing so heavily from the Chappelle’s Show formula without explicitly giving him credit.
7. Caitlyn Jenner
“How the f— are transgender people beating black people in the Discrimination Olympics?” Chappelle wonders aloud.
8. Care Bears
Hey, they’re famous! And they come up in a big spot in Age of Spin.
9. Kevin Hart
How the hell did he become more famous than Dave Chappelle? Dave Chappelle wants to know! (This bit also happens to include an A+ impersonation of Katt Williams.)
10. Gary Shandling
No jokes here — Chappelle simply gives a shout-out to the late legend at the end of Age of Spin.
11. Phife Dawg
12. Ray Rice
Chappelle’s preoccupation with disgraced celebrities eventually takes him to the topic of Rice, the former NFL player who assaulted his now-wife in 2014.
13. Donald Sterling
The former Los Angeles Clippers owner, who found himself in hot water for making racially charged comments, becomes a target in Deep in the Heart of Texas.
14. Paula Deen
Ditto the butter-loving chef who got caught using the N-word.
15. Michael Sam
Chappelle makes a brief allusion to the first openly gay football player to be drafted in the NFL, calling him a “very nice guy, very brave guy.”
16. 50 Cent
The rapper is inserted into a surreal extended story concerning female genitalia and boxing in the middle of Heart of Texas.
17. Lil Wayne
Certain rap lyrics of his (which also concern female genitalia) enter the spotlight.
