Stella comedy group releases new short

Posted on

David Wain, Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter are keeping it real — and irreverent — as they bring us yet another Stella short, this one entitled “Rip Van Winkle.”

Announcing the new entry via Twitter on Monday, David Wain wrote, “Oh hey here’s a brand new STELLA short!”

Stella, a sketch comedy series that was heavy on the sketch and hilarity, featured the three longtime collaborators (and the biggest creative forces behind the phenomenon that is Wet Hot American Summer).

In their latest outing, Michael, Michael, and David rise from what they believe to have been one night’s sleep in a random hotel room (purportedly in San Francisco) — and soon discover to their horror and chagrin that they’ve been asleep for 20 years. But before the realization sets in, though, David feverishly surfs the channels on the newfangled-looking TV searching for The Oprah Winfrey Show, while one of the Michaels mistakes the hotel thermostat for a “transistor radio” (which is more 1957 than 1997, but anyway). He was looking for “Semi-Charmed Kind of Life” by Third Eye Blind.
