While many people watched MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow discuss President Donald Trump’s tax returns (or the This Is Us season finale) on Tuesday night, Obama White House veteran Kal Penn found some alternative viewing: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Midway through Maddow’s broadcast, the Designator Survivor actor tweeted that he’d gotten bored and switched to an episode of the Bravo reality series, which he subsequently got into.

“One of them is confronting another about spreading rumors behind her back while they’re on a boat together,” Penn live-tweeted as the episode continued to unfold. “Update. The one accused of rumors is denying it.”

The actor — who recently discussed the typecasting he’d faced early on in his career — noted that he did not yet know the housewives’ names, but was already invested.

“This is all very dramatic. Are they friends?” wrote Penn, before reaching out to Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen. “It’s ‘To Be Continued.’ Is this on Netflix? @Andy I just got addicted.”

Cohen responded a short while later, commenting, “You picked a good time to start!”
