A day after purporting to flip through Jeff Sessions’ Russia-filled day planner, Stephen Colbert doubled back to address the embattled attorney general’s terse press conference in which he recused himself from any investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

On Friday’s episode of The Late Show, Colbert took Sessions to task for barely discussing the thing that got him into trouble: his failure to disclose his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. last year.

“In retrospect, I should’ve slowed down and said I did meet with one Russian official a couple times — that would be the ambassador,” Sessions said before abruptly exiting.

Colbert wasn’t having it. “You can’t just end a press conference with the one piece of relevant information you have,” he said. “That would be like Darth Vader saying, ‘By the way, Luke, I’m your dad. Take care, bye!'”
