After a spirited results show featuring plenty of Steve Jones finger-points, Pepsi product placement, and tender shots of Paula Abdul crying, the first “act” to be eliminated from the X Factor laser field is….
Awww. Kids. Just the 10 of them. These were the teens thrown together in a group by producers at the end of the audition rounds. They all looked like they were gonna barf as the judges pretended to decide between their group and the Stereo Hogzz, who also landed in the bottom two. If I had to guess, I think the first to vom after a few more seconds of silence from L.A. Reid would have been Em, of former “AusEm” non-fame. The tiny wish-bucket in a cheerleading skirt was a pretty decent runner-up.
The results show setup was kind of like So You Think You Can Dance, in that the two acts who’d received the least amount of viewer votes had to “sing for their lives” one last time, and then the judges were the ones to determine their fates. Astoundingly, Simon Cowell was the only judge to vote against Stereo Hogzz. This is the same buncha fellas to whom he’d said on Wednesday night, “I don’t think there’s a band in the world right now that’s as good as you.”
Again, WHAT?! So random!
Anyway, InTENsity was the right choice to go home. I’ll miss them for their hot-mess potential. I loved hearing “My Life Would Suck Without You,” though. It’s just good to be reminded of that song. Here, watch the video. We belong together now, they pleaded with the judges. Not so fast, kids! This was just a pretend family.
