Last night’s show opened with a group dance that put a smile on my face. Maybe it was Sting. Maybe it was the choreography (yeah, that was it). But it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland, and I totally followed her down the rabbit hole. It turned out that Mia choreographed routine, and that’s why I loved it so much. I know this season is all about switching things up, but I’d gladly take Mary back on the judge’s panel to see more of Mia’s choreography. I can live without her oddly worded critiques, but apparently not her choreography.
And before we learned our dancers’ fate, we got some SYTYCD housekeeping taking care of. Thankfully, Lauren’s visit with the medic at the end of last night’s show resulted in good news. She told Cat that she was doing a lot better. (Collective sigh of relief.) And Uncle Nigel updated us on the grand prize. Not only will America’s favorite dancer win $250,000 (and yes, Cat, that IS a lot of shoes), but they’ll also take part in a new Gatorade ad campaign. The sports drink company will recognize dance as an official sport, and our winner will be the newest Gatorade athlete. Now that’s G.
But now to bottom three revelation. As we relived Kent’s dancing, they showed him jumping off the stage at the end of his cha cha. Cat said she’d ”like to have a go at that,” and I think that sounds entertaining. I would just recommend she change out of that pink dress. We don’t need any wardrobe malfunctions.
I wasn’t sure who was going to be sent home during the double elimination. But after Jose, Billy, and Lauren got sent to the bottom three, it seemed obvious that Jose and Billy would be sent home. And in a unanimous decision, that’s exactly what the judges did.
Their decision made sense, especially since Lauren was under the weather last night. But if anything, Robert’s truly shocked face made her trip to the bottom three worth it. That was not an act. (Did anyone else see the ”Go Go Roberto” sign in the crowd? At first, I thought it said Ga Ga Roberto. I haven’t been able to get Alejandro out of my head ever since then. Fail.)
