Watch an exuberant, shirtless Michael Shannon cover Iggy Pop

Posted on

While his Shape of Water colleagues were celebrating Guillermo del Toro’s Golden Globes win at a glitzy awards ceremony, Michael Shannon spent his weekend on a different kind of stage.

The Oscar-nominated actor performed in Chicago on Saturday at Sons of the Silent Age’s tribute concert to David Bowie’s Berlin days. Specifically, he filled in as Iggy Pop — shirtless, and with his characteristic intensity on full display.

Here’s a photo.

A fan-shot video shows Shannon performing “Lust for Life,” leaping around the stage while dancing, singing, and playing the cowbell with so much fervor that it would make Christopher Walken proud.

Watch the big moment in the clip above.
