Guess who’s back? Eminem, it seems. According to a tease, posted on the rapper’s social media feeds on Friday, Slim Shady might be ready to drop his next album since releasing The Marshall Mathers LP 2 in 2013.

“Kumbaya motherf—ers! More soon from the Shady Shop. #CampShady,” Eminem wrote on Instagram. Fans instantly assumed this pertained to new music on the horizon, and the accompanying photo saw his face superimposed over the image of a campfire guitarist.

Eminem had said last year, “Don’t worry I’m working on an album!” in a video on Facebook before dropping “Campaign Speech,” a nearly eight-minute track that encompassed lyrics about football player Colin Kaepernick, mystery novelist Agatha Christie, and Donald Trump.

The rapper’s fans got their hopes up for new music after 2 Chainz posed with Eminem for photos posted to Instagram in June. “Sooo this jus happened ……#marshalllikestrapmusic.”

The Pretty Girls Like Trap Music performer then told DJ Drama on his radio show in July that he was asked to redo a hook for Eminem, and while he mentioned he writes his own hooks, he “humbled” himself and took the meeting. “He let me hear this song and it was funny,” 2 Chainz said of Eminem. “I heard some things in there where his vernacular was 2 Chainz-y. It was crazy.”

Another clue came from Allen Hughes, director of the Dr. Dre documentary The Defiant Ones. He let slip during an interview with UPROXX that was published in July, “Right now [Dre’s] producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album.”

Given this latest tease, maybe it’s time to start getting our hopes back up.

Eminem will also be headlining the Reading & Leeds Festival at the end of August.
