UPDATE: Brandy Norwood is home and resting following a brief hospitalization.
“Brandy has been released from the hospital and is now at home resting,” read a statement posted to Norwood’s Twitter account. “She has been traveling extensively as part of an ongoing tour and several personal appearances. In recent days she has taken more than 10 long haul flights, including internationally.”
The original story is below.
Norwood, 38, was taken off the plane by officers and paramedics just after 7 a.m. local time, the Los Angeles World Airports police told KABC.
She then regained consciousness once escorted onto the jetway, police said, before ultimately being taken to the hospital. Sources told TMZ that Norwood was stable before her hospitalization, but there have been no updates on her current status.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to PEOPLE only that units responded to LAX just after 6 a.m. on Friday for an “unspecified medical complaint,” and that an “ambulance did transport an unknown number of patients to a local hospital in Los Angeles.” The patient was “conscious when taken off the plane,” a spokesperson for the Los Angeles World Airport Police tells PEOPLE.
Norwood’s rep did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Just one day before the incident, Norwood was active on the tennis court: she shared a black and white Instagram video serving the ball several times.
