Lorde appeared on Saturday Night Live over the weekend to perform her two new singles, “Green Light” and “Liability,” for the first time. By most accounts, the 20-year-old New Zealand pop star knocked the performance out of the park — but some criticized her dancing on social media.

In a Facebook post sharing her Saturday Night Live “Green Light” clip, Lorde responded to the comments. “one day i will do a normal dance choreographed by a nice person and i will look more like your other favourite performers,” she wrote, “but we have not yet reached that day.” Lorde punctuated the note with “¯\_(ツ)_/¯”.

Negative comments about Lorde’s dancing have dogged her since she achieved global fame with her 2013 debut Pure Heroine and its No. 1 single, “Royals.” In January 2014, her Grammys performance seemingly garnered more buzz online for her dance moves than the music itself.

“Green Light” and “Liability” appear on Lorde’s forthcoming sophomore album Melodrama, due out June 16.
