The Last Jedi teaser breakdown

Home. Or what do you call such a place when the people you once shared it with are gone? This is the emotional opening shot of the new teaser for The Last Jedi, with Mark Hamill as a cloaked Luke Skywalker stepping aboard the Millennium Falcon, the ship that started his lifelong adventure. It's one of six new shots certain to have Star Wars fans talking.

Snoke's Throne Room

The new trailer also takes us into the blood-red throne room of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), who is flanked by his Praetorian Guard and attended to by The First Order's General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson.)

General Leia

We get a Leia version of an eyeroll. Not quite Carrie Fisher-level sarcasm (no mere mortal could survive that), but there is worry fraught with frustration on Leia's face. She has been fighting the good fight for a long time. And it has cost her dearly.

Ski Speeder Finn

"Whooo!" has become as ubiquitous in Star Wars as "I have a bad feeling about this." John Boyega's Finn wasn't much of a pilot in The Force Awakens, but he has picked up some new skills as we see him piloting one of these skimmers along the salt flats of the planet Crait. Incidentally, this is also the last thing a hoagie ever sees.

Millennium Falcon escape

We've already seen Chewie piloting the Falcon through an underground maze of red crystal, pursued by TIE Fighters. Now we get a shot of the starship tearing through a thin spot in the ground as it bursts out of that cavern and into the pale sky of Crait.

Ignite the blue

Those averse to spoilers can watch this new teaser without fear. While it shows a few new shots, very few have any context. Here, we see a new image of Daisy Ridley's Rey wielding what was once the Skywalker family lightsaber. Fans can await a laser-sword battle in the rain come Dec. 15.
