It’s a good week to be Timothy Olyphant.
Only days after his Netflix comedy Santa Clarita Diet was picked up for a third season, the Emmy-nominated actor is in talks to star in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, EW has confirmed.
The Deadwood and Justified alum, who has never previously worked with the filmmaker, would join Burt Reynolds and a stacked group of Tarantino regulars: Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen.
Set in 1969 Los Angeles, Tarantino’s ninth film will feature DiCaprio as Rick Dalton, the former star of a western TV series, and Pitt as his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. They’re both struggling to survive in a Hollywood they no longer recognize. Although, one thing familiar to them is Rick’s next-door neighbor: Sharon Tate.
“I’m very excited to work with Brad Pitt in this film and I think (Tarantino) transports us into a different era,” DiCaprio recently said at CinemaCon. “Having read the script already, it’s one of the most amazing screenplays he’s ever written and that’s saying a lot, because he’s done masterwork in film.”
Deadline first reported the news.
