Pitch Perfect 3 stars sing aca-awesome mashup with The Voice top 12

Posted on

Anna Kendrick and some of the Barden Bellas from Pitch Perfect 3 debuted a show-stopping music video on The Voice Tuesday night for the big elimination episode. Stars like Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Chrissie Fit, and Hana Mae Lee joined the competition show’s top 12 contestants for an a cappella mashup of George Michael’s “Freedom” and a Pitch Perfect fave, “Cups.”

Elizabeth Banks, who stars as our favorite a cappella commentator, took over The Voice‘s Instagram feed to herald the video drop. Though the group was missing a key member of the Bellas — Rebel Wilson — the show indeed went on with The Voice contenders like Adam Cunningham, Janice Freeman, Ashland Craft, and Keisha Renee.

Banks directed Pitch Perfect 2, but Trish Sie (Step Up All In) will helm the third installment of the franchise, which sees the Bellas reuniting for an overseas USO tour.

“When I heard they needed a new director I was just like, ‘That’s it. I am destined for this,’” Sie told EW. “It was like I was the stalker-girl who sees a guy in the coffee shop and is like, ‘I’m going to marry him!’ It was that crazy, one-sided love affair, but it all worked out.”

Pitch Perfect 3 will hit theaters on Dec. 22. Watch their new musical mashup in the video above.
