It is the East and Juliet is… embroiled in the world of corporate espionage?
In Die in a Gunfight, William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is about to get a high-octane update in an action romance that puts the famous star-crossed lovers (here named Mary and Ben) in the world of corporate espionage and high stakes revenge.
The Mark Gordon Company announced plans on Monday to produce this updated take on Romeo and Juliet starring Kaya Scodelario (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as Mary and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) as Ben. Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Helen Hunt (As Good as it Gets) will also star, while Collin Schiffli, who won the Grand Jury Prize for Animals at the 2014 SXSW Festival, will direct.
Producers write of the film “true love conquers all…but if it can’t, it’ll at least ensure you go out swinging, in spectacular fashion.”
“We are delighted to assemble a top tier cast and creative team to bring this vibrant and passionate film to life. Showcasing exhilarating action and timeless emotional themes, Die in a Gunfight will surely resonate with audiences around the world,” said producer Mark Gordon in the project’s official announcement.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp screenwriters Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari penned the script. Shooting is set to begin next month in Boston.
