The most shocking aspect of It, the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s horror story, is not what happens to poor little Georgie, or how surprisingly funny the film is, or even what The Loser’s Club find when they go monster hunting in the sewers. It’s how well It blends together with another Warner Bros. property, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The new Clown Prince of Gotham rolls into town, snatching up kids left and right, and Batfleck muses once again, “Maybe it’s the Gotham City in me. We have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns.” His vision sequences in Batman v Superman also make more sense now. Instead of The Flash popping in for an ominous warning, they’re now part of Pennywise bringing out Bruce Wayne’s worst fears.
It broke records in becoming the highest-grossing horror film of all time at the domestic box office with a cumulative gross of $245.4 million to date.
