Fiona Dourif gets a shock in Cult of Chucky clip

The new ‘Child’s Play’ film is released Oct. 3

There seems to be a lot of anticipation among horror fans for Cult of Chucky, the seventh film in the Child’s Play killer doll franchise. But, up until now, there hasn’t actually been much in the way of teaser footage for the film, which is released Oct. 3 on unrated Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. Bloody Disgusting rectified that situation Thursday by dropping a quartet of clips from the movie, including one which finds actress Fiona Dourif’s character receiving electroshock therapy.

Written and directed by longtime franchise architect Don Mancini, Cult of Chucky stars Dourif as Nica, who is confined to an asylum for the criminally insane, wrongly convinced that she — not the possessed doll Chucky — murdered her entire family in 2013’s Curse of Chucky. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new group therapy tool — a “Good Guy” doll — a string of grisly deaths plagues the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now grownup nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her, he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved (and, once again, Brad Dourif-voiced) devil doll, who is possessed by the spirit of serial killer, Charles Lee Ray.
