Director Adam Wingard has depicted deaths aplenty in films like You’re Next, the Dan Stevens-starring The Guest, and last year’s Blair Witch. But the body count really starts to rise in the trailer for his new film, Death Note, which premieres on Netflix on Aug. 25.
Adapted from writer Tsugumi Ohba’s manga series, the film concerns a young man who becomes intoxicated by the power of a supernatural notebook and begins to kill all the people he believes to be unworthy of living. Which, as it turns out, is a lot of people.
Death Note stars Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Lakeith Stanfield, Masi Oka, Shea Wigham, and Willem Dafoe.
