New Cult of Chucky trailer is completely nuts

Latest Child’s Play film is released, Oct. 3

Posted on

How can something so frickin’ small be so frickin’ deadly? That’s the conundrum horror fans will once again face when everyone’s favorite killer doll returns in Cult of Chucky, available Oct. 3 on unrated Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital.

Written and directed by longtime franchise architect Don Mancini, this seventh movie in the Child’s Play series finds Curse of Chucky star Fiona Dourif returning to reprise the role of Nica, who is confined to an asylum for the criminally insane, wrongly convinced that she — not the possessed doll Chucky  murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new group therapy tool — a “Good Guy” doll — a string of grisly deaths plagues the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now grownup nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her, he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved (and, once again, Brad Dourif-voiced) devil doll, who is possessed by the spirit of serial killer, Charles Lee Ray.

The film’s Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital releases include two featurettes: a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, called Inside the Insanity of Chucky, and a peek into Alterian, the studio behind Chucky’s puppeteering, called Good Guy Gone Bad: The Incarnations of Chucky. The movie also comes with a commentary featuring writer-director Mancini and head puppeteer Tony Gardner. In addition to these individual releases, Cult of Chucky will be part of the Chucky: Complete 7-Movie Collection, also releasing Oct. 3.

Cult of Chucky is released by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is produced by Ogden Gavanski and David Kirschner and executive-produced by Mancini.

Curse of Chucky will receive it’s world premiere at London’s FrightFest horror festival in August.
