Miles Teller will be dealing with a different kind of trauma in his new movie, Thank You For Your Service.

The movie sees the Whiplash actor play one of three soldiers returning home from Iraq, as they struggle to adjust to civilian life and cope with the effects of PTSD. As the trailer (above) reveals, Teller’s character, Adam Schumann, has a particularly rough time of it despite the support of his wife Saskia (Girl On the Train actress Haley Bennett), young daughter, and fellow officers.

American Sniper screenwriter Jason Hall wrote and directed the film, which he adapted from the nonfiction book of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Finkle which tells the story of soldiers who’ve returned from deployment and what life is like for them (and their families) after.

Snatched star Amy Schumer also stars in the film.

Thank You For Your Service arrives in theaters Oct. 27. Watch the trailer above, via USA Today.
