The Hero stars the great Sam Elliott (Tombstone, The Big Lebowski, Mask) as Lee Hayden, an aging, golden-voiced Western icon whose best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-costar-turned-dealer, Jeremy (Nick Offerman), until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with a stand-up comic Charlotte (Laura Prepon), and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter), all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy.
As that film prepares to hit theaters, Elliott is also the subject of a retrospective at New York’s The Quad cinema on June 7-8. Films being screened include Roadhouse and Mask: Director’s Cut.

The Orchard will release The Hero in New York and Los Angeles June 9 followed by a national rollout in June and July.
