Jennifer Aniston is set to star in Dumplin’, a big-screen adaptation of Julie Murphy’s 2015 novel about an overweight but self-confident Texas teen who enters a local beauty pageant to spite her mom.

EW has confirmed that Aniston will play the girl’s mother, Rosie, a former beauty queen whose nickname for her daughter gives the story its title (her given name is Willowdean).

Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, Hot Pursuit) is on board to direct Dumplin’, working from a script by Aniston’s longtime friend and collaborator Kristin Hahn. Production is slated to start this summer.

Aniston’s recent film credits include Office Christmas Party and Storks, and she’ll also be seen in the Iraq war drama The Yellow Birds.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.
