Terminator 2: Judgment Day will soon be back… in 3-D.

James Cameron’s 1991 action flick will be returning to theaters for a limited run this summer, marking the first time Terminator 2 has been shown in 3-D. Cameron himself personally oversaw the film’s conversion, with Distrib Films US handling the re-release.

Terminator 2 picks up in 1995, more than a decade after the events of the first film, and follows Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Terminator tasked with protecting Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and her son John (Edward Furlong) from a more advanced assassin played by Robert Patrick.

Of the five Terminator films, T2 is both the most beloved and the most successful, earning more than $519.8 million at the global box office (unadjusted for inflation). It also scored four technical Oscars and another two nominations.

The 3-D release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day will hit theaters on Aug. 25.
