The latest addition to Netflix’s ever-growing lineup of originals is Sand Castle, a fact-based war drama inspired by writer Chris Roessner’s experiences in Iraq.

On Thursday, the streaming service released the official trailer for the film, which follows a group of American soldiers in the early days of the second Gulf War. Set in Iraq in 2003, the drama stars Nicholas Hoult as Matt Ocre, a soldier who is sent to the outskirts of the country to repair a broken water pumping station along with his team. But their efforts are met with skepticism and, soon enough, Matt and his team are threatened by angry villagers who aren’t exactly sold on the operation.

Directed by Fernando Coimbra (A Wolf at the Door), Sand Castle launches on Netflix April 21. Check out the trailer above.
