Matt Ross has found his next fantastic project.
The Captain Fantastic director is set to helm TriStar’s Tomorrow and Tomorrow, an adaptation of Tom Sweterlitsch’s 2014 sci-fi novel. The story is set in the near future, where, after an explosion wipes out Pittsburgh, the city is recreated in a virtual reality.
“Tomorrow and Tomorrow is prescient, it posits a world not so dissimilar from today, a direction we are all clearly headed. where technology has altered the ways in which we interact with each other and the world around us,” Ross said in a statement. “I hope to examine, following the book’s lead, the degree to which our lives are enhanced, and deeply compromised, by the technology that is already an inseparable part of our daily existence.”
The actor-turned-director received critical acclaim for Captain Fantastic, his second feature film, which he also wrote. Led by Oscar-nominated star Viggo Mortensen, the film followed a family’s attempts at reintegrating into society after years of living in the wilderness.
Ross is best known for his series regular role on HBO’s Silicon Valley, playing Hooli founder and Pied Piper nemesis Gavin Belson.
