Horror imprint Scream Factory announced Thursday that last year’s critically-acclaimed retro-horror film Beyond the Gates will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in May. The directorial debut of former Supernatural writer Jackson Stewart, the movie stars Chase Williamson (John Dies at the End) and Graham Skipper (The Mind’s Eye) as two very different siblings who find themselves in a world of hurt following the disappearance of their father.

“The movie centers around these two estranged brothers who reunite to close down their missing father’s video store,” Jackson said last year. “While they’re there, they happen upon this VCR board game that has something to do with his disappearance. It’s a little bit in the vein of the movies like The Gate and Phantasm, but done with adults. It’s firmly got its DNA rooted in the ’80s horror films that seem to be making a big comeback.”

The film costars Brea Grant (Rob Zombie’s Halloween II),  Matt Mercer (the Contracted films), Justin Welborn (SiREN), Jesse Merlin (FDR: American Badass!), Sara Malakul Lane (Sun Choke), and genre fan-favorite Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, You’re Next, We Are Still Here), who plays the board game’s creepy host.

Bonus features on the Blu-ray and DVD releases will include behind-the-scenes material shot by Kyle Kuchta, an opening night Q&A moderated by Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon, retro board game ad with Sam Robinson, Alex Essoe and Alena Von Stroheim, Sex Boss short film, commentaries with Chase Williamson, Graham Skipper, Barbara Crampton, Brea Grant, Jesse Merlin, Stephen Scarlata, Brian A. Sowell, and a production assistant commentary with Dan Fisk.
