Bruce Springsteen might have been born to run, but apparently the folks behind Harry Potter didn’t think he was born to write a song for their magical franchise.

While appearing on BBC Radio 2 with Simon Mayo, Springsteen was asked if it’s true that he wrote a song, “I’ll Stand By You Always,” was meant for a Harry Potter film. “That is true,” he laughed. “They didn’t use it.”

The Boss isn’t sure why the Potter producers made such a Slytherin move, saying that you’d have to ask them.

“It was pretty good,” he said. “It was a song that I wrote for my eldest son, it was a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic of something I’d sing myself. But it was something that I thought would have fit lovely; at some point I’d like to get it into a children’s movie of some sort because it was a pretty lovely song.”

Good thing that J.K. Rowling and company have four more movies to right this wrong.
