TV: Knife Fight
''I love that show. It's on Esquire Network. If you like Top Chef, it's just a half hour. These two chefs go at it in, like, this basement. The winner wins a big knife, and the loser wins a tiny knife. [Laughs] That's it! It's kind of rad. It gets to the point—you're in, you're out.''

''Birdman was awesome. I think that might be my favorite film this year. Edward Norton, all those guys—they were insane! Emma Stone was fantastic. She did that one monologue where she went off on Michael Keaton. And I was like, 'Oh, don't screw this up because this could be a home run! This ball's going deep, you're going to the fences on this one, don't screw it up!' And she didn't screw it up. Over the fence! It got me excited. It's such a fascinating and cool movie. And it looks like one whole tracking shot? I've never seen anything like it! That was really, really cool.''

MUSIC: Sirius XM
''I've been listening to Sirius a lot. I'm into Willie's Roadhouse—it's the best station on Sirius XM. I purchased a truck this year, and I only listen to country music in the truck. It's one of my rules.''

TV: CBS Sunday Morning
''It's so calming. It just makes you happy—those horns, and Charles Osgood's bowties are always great. And Mo Rocca? I'll see a good Mo Rocca piece, come on! I'm in, I'm in. I don't care what it is—they can be talking about homemade wooden pipe organs. I love those stories, man. I love that show, a lot.''

BOOKS: I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes
''Dude, freak out. That's my new Gone Girl. Gone Girl was the last book that I couldn't put down. Seriously, email me when you read it. You'll be five chapters in, and you'll look up and be like, 'Dude!'''

TV: The Wonder Years
''The Wonder Years came out on Blu-ray/DVD, with [almost] all the original music, which is a big deal. That's one of my favorite shows ever.''

MOVIES: Awards-Season Prospects
''Benedict Cumberbatch was great in The Imitation Game. That'll get its share of BAFTAs.''
''I liked Foxcatcher. Steve Carell! But I'll tell you who my dark horse is: Mark Ruffalo. [He was] like beyond acting. I thought that was really phenomenal.''

''I love documentaries. Anything that's documentary, I'll watch it. But there's too many food documentaries now, it's like they're just giving them away. It's like, come on, this isn't a real documentary. 'Here's a documentary about? appetizers!' Come on, that's not a real documentary.''

TV: Open House
''Oh, I'll tell you what I really love: Open House [on NBC New York]. Sara Gore is the host. They basically go around, there are different homes for sale, and real estate agents are the hosts of their own segments—and a lot of them shouldn't be on television. [Chuckles] They're probably great real estate agents, but they're not great TV hosts. I just think it's fantastic. I want to spoof it, I think it's great. I just like seeing like, 'Oh, hello, come into the kitchen!' and he's got like a gray eyeball and he's wearing an ascot. It's like, 'Oh my god, you're a character—you're not a real person.'''

''Spotify was big for me this year. I really jumped into it. I have my playlist of songs that I jump into. [Pulls out phone] These are my start songs:
'Jump in the Line,' Harry Belafonte
'Couldn't Get it Right,' Climax Blues Band
'Black Eye,' Love Inks—I thought this was going to be a bigger hit, but I love it.
'St. Thomas,' Sonny Rollins—I think I'm growing into jazz and finding out about great jazz musicians. This song is great. It's, like, Pink Panther-y cool.
'Just One More,' George Jones—[This song] has one of my favorite lines. He's talking about putting the bottle on the table, he's very depressed, and he's like [sings in deep country voice] ''One drink, just one more / And then another.'' These country songs are so funny.
