Jeffrey Toobin has partnered with Doubleday to publish an investigation of the scandals currently swirling around President Donald Trump.
The still-untitled book will focus on the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller as well as the various inquiries by Congressional committees into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election. Toobin has regularly provided commentary on these inquiries in his capacity as a CNN legal analyst and writer for The New Yorker.
As an author, Toobin is best known for his book The Run of His Life, which was based on the O.J. Simpson murder case and served as the basis for FX’s Emmy-winning limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. His most recent effort, American Heiress, tackled the kidnapping and trial of Patty Hearst.
Bill Thomas, editor in chief and publisher of Doubleday, made the announcement Tuesday. “This is the book that Jeff Toobin was born to write,” he said. “All of Jeff’s books have taken complex legal subjects and drawn out the characters and drama — as well as humor — that make the stories compelling.”
“We’ve been telling this story in bits and pieces for the past year,” Toobin added. “But I’m hoping to pull it together in single narrative that tells the tale in all its bizarre glory.”
The book does not yet have a release date.
