A recent video that purported to show President Trump ignoring a child in a wheelchair — and was amplified by the author J.K. Rowling blasting Trump as a “monster of narcissism” on Twitter — appears to have been deceptively edited.

Rowling picked up on the video Friday after it was tweeted by Ansel Herz, the deputy communications director for U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash. In the video, which Herz has since deleted, Trump appeared to avoid shaking hands with a child in a wheelchair before exiting a White House function.

As seen in video unearthed by the Twitter account The Reagan Battalion, however, Trump clearly greeted the child, but the moment was edited out of the version Herz posted. Herz offered a brief apology in a follow-up tweet, saying the clip he posted had been “missing some context.”

As of Sunday afternoon, Rowling had yet to acknowledge the misleading nature of the video that incensed her Friday. At that time, the Harry Potter author — who has long been a vocal Trump critic — said in a series of tweets that the clip “touched me on the raw.” She added that Trump “occupies the most powerful office in the free world and his daily outrages against civilized norms are having a corrosive effect.”

Representatives for Rowling told EW she did not have any further comment.
