As we wait for Broad City season 4 to premiere in August, here’s something to tide fans over: The first look inside the official Broad City Coloring Book.
Illustrated by Mike Perry — the artist behind the show’s funky, ever-changing opening titles — the coloring book translates Abbi and Ilana’s world into a 2-D wonderland of smoky bubble letters and goofy activities. It wasn’t hard for Perry to design the book. “I spend so much time drawing that turning Abbi and Ilana into cartoons was something I had literally already done in my sketchbook for years,” Perry tells EW. “I often think of the construct of the world as a cartoon.”
The book was created on a “very aggressive” timeline: Perry completed it, start to finish, in just a month. But he was never at a loss for inspiration. “The ideas were just constantly flowing,” he says. “I find inspiration everywhere, from the way the light dances across my office in midday to the kids riding their modern hover-boards down the street.”
