See how Time’s Up took over Twitter during the Golden Globes

The Time’s Up movement didn’t just dominate the conversation at the Golden Globes; it was also a hot topic on Twitter.

After Sunday night’s award show, Twitter announced that during the event, there were more than 500,000 tweets using the hashtag #TimesUp from more than 100 countries.

The social media company also released a map showing how the #TimesUp mentions spread around the world as the show went on.

Emma Watson, who presented at the ceremony, had the most retweeted #TimesUp tweet, drawing attention to the cause and the coordinated effort to wear black on the red carpet.

Celebrities both at home and on the red carpet wore black to raise awareness for Time’s Up, a coordinated movement to raise awareness for issues facing women across all industries, from systemic sexual harassment and abuse to gender inequality. Many award winners and presenters also publicly declared their support, most notably Cecil B. DeMille award winner Oprah Winfrey, who told the audience, “For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up.”
