Thursday night’s Grey’s Anatomy was dramatic for many reasons — mainly because it’s Grey’s Anatomy. (You can read about what went down in EW’s recap.) Some fans may remember one particularly theatrical moment, when Kelly Clarkson’s famous lines “I want you to know, that it doesn’t matter, where we take this road, but someone’s got to go” from her 2009 hit “Already Gone” came through your speaker.

But it wasn’t Clarkson’s voice we heard. Ryan O’Neal, who produces beautiful sonic dreamscapes as Sleeping at Last, delivered a particularly delicate version. The results are rather heartbreaking, like many of Grey’s notable music moments.
