Start scrolling through the Johto Pokédex — Generation 2 might be coming to Pokémon Go before the New Year.

With the recent release of Ditto to the massive mobile game, Niantic seems to be gearing up to release more pocket monsters for trainers to track down. In a statement Wednesday, Niantic announced its formal partnership with Sprint, in addition to dropping hints about a big announcement.

“We’re excited for December because we have a few new experiences and in-game events planned for you before wrapping up the year,” said creative lead John Hanke. “While we cannot share all the details yet, keep an eye out on our social media channels on December 12th for details about the first addition of more Pokémon into Pokémon Go.”

Additionally, the official Pokémon twitter shared the news of the Dec. 12th reveal, stating, “More Pokémon are coming to #PokemonGo!” While neither post states which Pokémon will be joining the game, the release of Ditto was introduced as part of a one-off event, and not just an outright addition to the Pokédex, while the upcoming announcement states, “…the first addition of more Pokémon in to Pokémon Go.” Additionally, Reddit users found Generation 2 Pokémon data in the last update, leading further possibility to the Johto creatures entering the game soon.
