The first trailer for Netflix’s One Day at a Time is here!

Netflix’s reimagining of Norman Lear’s classic sitcom follows a multigenerational Cuban-American family as they deal with everything life has to throw at them. Justina Machado stars as Penelope, a military veteran and newly single mother who turns to her “old school” mom Lydia (Rita Moreno) for help with raising her two children Elena (Isabella Gomez) and Alex (Marcel Ruiz).

The heartwarming trailer previews the Alvarez’s attempts to navigate the ups and downs of life; from the entire family singing Toni Braxton’s “Un-Break My Heart” together to Penelope readjusting to coming home from war and clashing with her daughter over family traditions.

Executive-produced by Lear, Mike Royce, and Gloria Calderon Kellett, One Day at a Time‘s 13-episode first season debuts Jan. 6 on Netflix.
