Matthew Broderick’s six degrees of Kevin Bacon just got a whole lot closer.
Bacon’s wife, The Edge of Seventeen star Kyra Sedgwick, and Broderick dropped by Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday night, and while they were there, fessed up to a decades-old secret: They were high school sweethearts!
Their history was revealed during a round of “High School Whoperlatives?” as host Andy Cohen was read facts about either Sedgwick or Broderick from their high school days, and had to guess whom each was about.
After Sedgwick admitted to sneaking out of class to smoke in the stairwell, Broderick, who attended the same high school in New York City, confessed to joining her — and eventually, albeit reluctantly, the two opened up about dating “back and forth for a few years.”
“We’re married so long, we’re so boring,” Sedgwick says after Broderick says he was hesitant to make their past public. “We need this! This is good for our careers.”
But don’t expect any scandalous details to be leaked for these two. Cohen asks if the two ever knew each other “connubially,” and Sedgwick jumps to explain that their love was just puppy love.
“Never before I got married!” she says.
Sedgwick has been married to Kevin Bacon since 1988, and Broderick married Sarah Jessica Parker in 1997.
