Nicole Kidman and Jimmy Fallon talk their awkward past

Jimmy Fallon’s 2015 interview with Nicole Kidman (in which they recounted the story of their terrible first date) is one of his most awkward, interesting late night chats in recent memory. So when Kidman returned to The Tonight Show on Thursday, things were bound to get weird again.

“I so didn’t want to come back,” Kidman said.

Fallon made things even more awkward by making sure romantic mood lighting and a sweet song turned on every time she began telling a story.

Then Kidman revealed that there was more to their awkward history, saying Fallon missed a second shot to connect with her at a star-studded party. “We were at David Finch’s house, I think it was David’s house, and it was when Brad [Pitt] and Jen [Aniston] were still together, so it was a long time ago,” explained Kidman. “And you could’ve asked for my number then ’cause it was round two… and you still didn’t ask for it, and you know that’s true. So do not pretend!”

She later added: “It’s even more offensive that you don’t remember.”

Later, Kidman invited her husband, country superstar Keith Urban, on stage to chat with Fallon. “Would you ever invite me over to the house?” Fallon asked.

“Yeah, I feel quite safe because you have no problem ignoring my wife in the kitchen,” joked Urban.
