Twitter can be great — or not — for a lot of things: sharing news, making jokes, complaining, trolling, feeling depressed about how often The Rock works out. Yet, often it becomes a place to have fun with movie titles. Past Twitter trends have included #MakeAMovieMoreCanadian and #MakeAMovieCaffeinated. On Thursday, though, it was time to #DescribeAMoviesPlotIn5Words.
While Twitter users took the time to come up with their most clever jokes, two high-profile names used it as an opportunity to ding some of their own projects. Jodi Picoult, the author behind My Sister’s Keeper, described the film adaption of her novel by asking, “Why’d they change the ending?”
Meanwhile, Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar summed up a few of her own movies, including Cruel Intentions and Scooby Doo, but she saved her best for the complicated Southland Tales. She wrote of the 2007 film, which co-starred Dwayne Johnson and Justin Timberlake, “I don’t follow it either.”
Star Wars, Deadpool, and Top Gun are some of the others to get the Twitter treatment. Check out some of the best below.
