The Jesus and Mary Chain are back with their first new album in over 18 years. The Scottish alternative band announced via Creation Records’ Twitter account, “JAMC will drop their new record March 2017…on Warners of course!”

Creation founder Alan McGee spoke about the new album in an interview with the CBC this week and said, “They’ve made another album! It’s a big deal! It’s unbelievable. They’ve just made an album and I’ve signed them to Warners! New album coming. It’s coming out end of next March. It’s kinda enormous!”

Vocalist Jim Read spoke of the new album in an interview with Time Out New York last year. “We actually just started recording,” he said in October 2015. “It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see.”

The Jesus and Mary Chain have put out six albums but haven’t released a new album since 1998’s Munki. They split the year after, reunited in 2007 to play at Coachella, and have continued to perform live since then. The band gained success thanks to the song-writing duo of brothers Jim and William Reid. Some of their biggest hits included “Like Honey,” “April Skies,” and “Happy When It Rains.”
