Grouplove premiere 'Good Morning' video featuring Elle Fanning

‘The whole video is based around a quest for a magical, eternal light,’ Grouplove’s Hannah Hooper tells EW

EW is excited to premiere Grouplove’s music video for “Good Morning,” the single off their third album Big Mess, and the clip is everything fans have come to expect from the indie rock group — bright colors, high energy, a trippy premise, and a whole lot of fun.

Written and directed by Chris Blauvelt, who Grouplove singer Hannah Hooper describes as a “dear friend,” the clip features a surprise cameo from actress Elle Fanning and a bizarre encounter in restaurant.

As Hooper explains, “The whole video is based around a quest for a magical, eternal light. [Bandmate] Christian [Zucconi] is super sick in bed and I’m his badass all knowing chick who goes on an epic quest to bring him the light, which will save him.”

Along the way, Hooper encounters photographer Autumn de Wilde who drives her to a Chinese restaurant where she finds fellow bandmates Daniel Gleason, Ryan, Rabin, Andrew Wessen, and keeper of light Elle Fanning. Hooper brings the light back to Zucconi in a Chinese takeout box and heals him.

Hooper described the box of light as “abstract” and open to interpretation saying, “The lit takeout container is abstract so that it can be interpreted as whatever the light means to you. For me right now, it’s Michelle Obama.”
