Idris Elba’s hopes to keep his family together send him down a dark path in the new trailer for 100 Streets.
Debuting exclusively on EW, the latest look at the upcoming film follows Max Moore (Elba), a recently retired professional rugby player, struggling to adjust to his new life, while trying to make things right with his wife (Gemma Arterton).
As he spirals out of control, an officer scolds him, “You were a legend mate, sort yourself out.” Moore ominously replies, “I can’t be a legend because I’m not dead yet.”
That sets the stage for the frustration and built-up anger over losing his family to boil over, causing Moore to turn violent, waving around a gun on his balcony in front of onlookers and media.
While Elba gets the spotlight in the trailer, 100 Streets tracks three intertwined stories, all taking place in the same square mile in London. Tom Cullen (Downton Abbey), Franz Drameh (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), and Ken Stott (The Hobbit trilogy) also star in director Jim O’Hanlon’s project, which premiered in June at the Los Angeles Film Festival and last month was acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
100 Streets will be released in theaters and on demand on Jan. 13.
