By this point, everyone from Destiny’s Child and Adele to Hillary Clinton and Paul McCartney have posted their own take on the ubiquitous Mannequin Challenge. Now, the cast and crew of Disney’s upcoming A Wrinkle in Time are getting in on the fun — with a surprise release date reveal at the end.
Director Ava DuVernay shared the clip on Twitter, revealing that 102 crew members from 27 different departments participated in the two-plus minute clip, including actors Rowan Blanchard and Deric McCabe. (Blanchard’s character is unknown, but McCabe is playing the young prodigy Charles Wallace Murry.)
In the final few seconds, the video pans over to DuVernay and Storm Reid, who’s starring as Meg Murry, before revealing the movie’s release date: April 6, 2018.
Reid stars in the adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved novel, alongside Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who. Chris Pine and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are on board as Meg and Charles Wallace’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murry, with Zach Galifianakis as the Happy Medium, Levi Miller as Calvin O’Keefe, André Holland as Principal Jenkins, and Michael Peña as Red. Bellamy Young and Will McCormack round out the cast. Frozen’s Jennifer Lee wrote the script.
