In the Supernatural world, Rob Benedict and Richard Speight Jr. are gods — or, more specifically, Benedict is God and Speight is an archangel. Regardless, they’re two fan-favorite characters who first appeared early in the show’s run. However, that’s not to say that they’re still on the show. Sure, Benedict showed up for an arc in season 11, but neither actor has appeared in more than 20 of what is now 240-plus episodes.
And yet, if you attended a Supernatural fan convention tomorrow, they’d be there, and they’d be treated like kings. That’s the premise of Kings of Con, a new show coming to Comic-Con HQ, which follows Benedict and Speight on the fan convention circuit. The comedy is described as “Broad City meets Curb Your Enthusiasm with the comedic honesty of Louie as Richard and Rob play caricatures of themselves cavorting through the con world: Rich, thrice divorced former actor whose love of the game is fueled by the faux fame he experiences at the hands of a gaggle fans who still think he matters, and Rob, a divorcee-to-be who is back on the circuit to cover the costs of his failed marriage and stalled career.”
A mix of scripted material and improvisation, Kings of Con will also feature a number of familiar faces for Supernatural fans, and the proof of that is right here in this exclusive trailer, which features Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins, to name a few. Check it out above.
Kings of Con premieres on Tuesday, Nov. 15 on Comic-Con HQ.
