Amazon is adapting two beloved children’s books into kids’ holiday specials featuring some amazing talent.
The streaming service will present animated adaptations of If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie (based on the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series by Laura Numeroff) and The Snowy Day (based on the book of the same name by Ezra Jack Keats).
The Snowy Day is notable as one of the first children’s books to feature an African-American protagonist. The story follows a young boy who walks through his neighborhood to his Nana’s house on a snowy day, encountering friends along the way. The adaptation is narrated and produced by Laurence Fishburne and stars Angela Bassett, Regina King, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Boyz II Men sings an original song they wrote, “Snowy Day,” and will play an cappella group.
In If You Give a Mouse a Christmas Cookie, the holidays have come to Mouse’s house, featuring Christmas cookies and festivities. It is written and produced by Ken Scarborough (Saturday Night Live) and stars Mason Mahay, Roger Craig Smith (Wreck-It Ralph), Jessica DiCiccio (Over the Hedge), Jeff Bennett (Futurama), and Lara Jill Miller (Doc McStuffins). Lisa Loeb penned an original song titled “Christmas Cookie Song” for the special. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie was part of Amazon’s 2015 fall pilot season and season 1 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video next year.

The specials and songs premiere on Amazon Prime on Nov. 25.
