The View cohosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg did not see eye-to-eye with Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, during a contentious segment of Wednesday’s show.
Six days before the election, Behar pressed Conway on Trump’s “cavalier” attitude toward using nuclear weapons. “Aren’t you petrified?” Behar asked. “You have four children. That scares me more than any other stupid thing he has said.”
Employing a tactic she would return to throughout her appearance, Conway attempted to turn the tables by criticizing Hillary Clinton, in this case for the Iran nuclear deal.
Behar acknowledged that the deal has been controversial, but noted, “A lot of people believe that that will prevent nuclear war for 10 years.”
“A lot of people don’t,” Conway fired back.
She went on to accuse Behar of “cherry-picking” Trump’s comments, while an exasperated Behar said, “I think right now you’re being delusional.”
Goldberg got in on the action as well, asserting that Trump “has lost more money than most of us will every make in our lifetime” and adding, “I just want to know what his actual plan is.”
Conway responded by bragging about Trump’s slight lead in a recent ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll.
But Goldberg remained skeptical. “He’s played this like you play Apprentice,” she said. “You put a little innuendo out there, and you make it bad for your opponent. I know his show, I know his schtick, I get it.”
