Your eyes are not deceiving you: There’s another Mindy Lahiri coming to The Mindy Project.

Ryan Hansen has been cast in an upcoming episode of Hulu’s The Mindy Project playing… Mindy Lahiri, kind of.

The episode, which will air during the current fifth season, finds Dr. Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) falling asleep after a tiff at work and wishing she were a white man. When she wakes up, it’s in the body of handsome, blonde, white doctor Michael Lancaster (Hansen) who allows Mindy a day to experience the world through his lens.

Kaling actually teased the idea of doing this race- and gender-flipping episode back during Hulu’s press day during the Television Critics’ Association’s semi-annual program earlier this summer. “We’re pitching an episode called, ‘If I Was Born a White Man,’” she told reporters in August. “I love the idea that something happens to Mindy that is really sexist, and then she wakes up the next morning as a white man… It seems really interesting and fun and kind of a weird wish fulfillment to see how differently she would be treated.”

Hansen is perhaps best known from his role as not-so-chill bro Dick Casablancas on Veronica Mars, although he’s followed up the character with parts on 2 Broke Girls (as Candy Andy), Bad Judge, Bad Teacher, Friends with Benefits, Burning Love, and Party Down.

The Mindy Project drops new episodes every Tuesday on Hulu (this week’s features Smash alum Jack Davenport singing Dreamgirls). The show will celebrate its milestone 100th episode this November.
