For their last Halloween in office, the Obamas channeled the soul for getting down.
Barack and Michelle Obama hosted more than 4,000 trick-or-treaters from Washington, D.C., schools at the White House on Monday. There, the President and First Lady decided to get down in a classic way: by throwing on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and leading the kids in the dance. The small stage restricted their ability to pull off some of MJ and the zombies’ moves; however, that didn’t dampen their enthusiasm or effort.
When addressing the kids, President Obama complimented the children’s costumes (“You guys all look scary, or cool, or whatever you’re trying to be,” he said) and told parents to ignore the First Lady’s nutrition plan for one night. “We hope, parents, that on this day at least, you don’t have to pay attention to Michelle and healthy eating,” he said.
“Candy for everybody,” Michelle Obama followed up, to cheers from the kids.
