The concept of “Kevin James as badass action hero” has already been played for laughs twice in the Paul Blart: Mall Cop franchise, but Netflix’s new film True Memoirs of an International Assassin takes the idea a bit more seriously. James plays Sam Larson, an author thrown into an unexpected spotlight when his publisher decides to market his latest novel as nonfiction. Sam is quickly kidnapped by spies who think he really is The Ghost, the highly-trained stone-cold killer from his book.

In the clip below, one such spy tries apprehending Sam again. Luckily, he’s got backup from an actual operative (Zulay Henao), though Sam still throws a few well-timed blows into the spy vs. spy kerfuffle.
