Hanson sang the national anthem the last time Cleveland made the World Series

Posted on

The last time the Chicago Cubs went to the World Series, the United States had yet to join the nascent United Nations. The last time the Cleveland Indians went to the World Series, Hanson was involved.

The trio of brothers/pop singers were riding high off their signature hit “MMMBop” by the time the October showdown of the Indians and the eventual champs Florida Marlins rolled around.

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac jogged on field to a mixed reaction. The three took turns singing solo before harmonizing. They eventually won the Miami crowd over; the bald eagle flying from the rafters to the diamond helped, too.

Cleveland has not won a World Series since 1948, weeks before President Harry Truman was elected. The Chicago Cubs haven’t nabbed a trophy since 1908, when New Mexico and Arizona weren’t yet states.
