Dancing With the Stars used the Outlander theme song

Sadly, it wasn’t enough to save one of the celebrities from elimination

Dancing with the Stars did Outlander a big solid tonight on ABC.

For Monday’s team dance competition, four of the celebrities — Ryan Lochte, Maureen McCormick, Calvin Johnson, and James Hinchcliffe, who were dubbed Team Past — used the haunting theme song from the Starz drama for their Viennese waltz.

And though no one mentioned where the song came from — perish the thought! — the number went over big with the judges.

“No one stood out because it was a proper team dance,” said judge Len Goodman.

“My favorite dance of the night!” added judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

The quartet and their pro partners earned a 38 out of a possible 40. They surpassed Team Future, which only earned a 35.

Sadly for McCormick, her score from the team dance wasn’t enough to save her from elimination. She became the latest hoofer to leave the ballroom.

“There were times when I thought I was floating,” she told host Tom Bergeron at the end of the show. “I never ever thought that could be possible in the dance world!”
