Could Jennifer Lawrence’s next role be playing the first American flapper? The Oscar-winner is attached to star as Zelda Fitzgerald — wife and muse to F. Scott Fitzgerald — in a new biopic Ron Howard is developing and may potentially direct.
The project, titled Zelda, is based on a screenplay by Emma Frost. The filmmakers have also optioned Nancy Milford’s bestselling biography Zelda, which served as inspiration for the screenplay.
An official description of the film reads, “Zelda Fitzgerald was married to F. Scott Fitzgerald and was her husband’s indispensable muse and fiercest competitor. Desperate to define herself through her own art, the film explores the question — can love exist between creative equals?”
Producers on the project are Allison Shearmur (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Brian Oliver (Hacksaw Ridge), Lawrence and her producing partner, Justine Ciarrocchi.
Start your guessing games now as to who might play the famed The Great Gatsby author opposite her.
Lawrence will next be seen opposite Chris Pratt in Passengers, in theaters Dec. 21.
